Deforestation Regulation Targeted Amendment (2025)

This Regulation makes targeted amendments to, and simplifies, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Main points: the date of application is postponed by a further year to 30 December 2026 (30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises); the obligation to submit due diligence statements is limited to operators that first place products on the EU market, downstream operators and traders do not need to submit them again, and only the first downstream operator must collect and keep the statement reference numbers; certain printed products are removed from the scope; and the Commission is required to present a simplification review report by 30 April 2026 (the Commission published it on 4 May 2026, together with updated guidance, FAQs and a draft delegated act on product scope). Stakeholder exchanges take place within the Commission's existing multi-stakeholder platform.
