EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

EUDR requires covered commodities and derived products to be deforestation-free, legally produced and covered by a due-diligence statement before they can be placed on the EU market. Because it covers wood, rubber and paper, its reach goes far beyond agriculture.

01 Who is affected

  • Operators and traders of cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood
  • Manufacturers of Annex I derived products (furniture, paper products, rubber goods, leather)
  • Suppliers asked by EU customers for geolocation data

02 Main obligations

  • Plot-level geolocation data collection
  • Risk assessment and risk mitigation
  • Due-diligence statement before placing on the market or exporting
  • Record keeping and annual review

Summary only; obligations are defined by the regulation text.
