AI Act General-Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice and Commission adequacy opinion
The GPAI Code of Practice was drawn up by independent experts with nearly 1,000 stakeholders; the Commission received and published the final version on 10 July 2025 as a voluntary tool for GPAI model providers to demonstrate compliance with AI Act Articles 53 and 55. It has three chapters: Transparency (including a Model Documentation Form) and Copyright, for all GPAI providers, and Safety and Security, only for models with systemic risk. On 1 August 2025 the Commission and the AI Board confirmed it is an adequate voluntary compliance tool.
