Heavy-Duty Vehicle CO2 Emission Credits Calculation Amendment (2025–2029)
This Regulation amends Article 7 of and Annex I to the Regulation setting CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles (Regulation (EU) 2019/1242), allowing manufacturers to accumulate more emission credits during the 2025 to 2029 reporting periods and to use them in subsequent years for compliance with the 2030 target, without changing the 2030 reduction target itself. The Commission's stated reason for the proposal is the delayed deployment of public recharging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles, particularly along motorways. This flexibility does not apply to urban buses.
