EU Merger Regulation
This Regulation aims to establish the EU system for the control of concentrations, under which concentrations between undertakings with an EU dimension are reviewed and controlled. This Regulation governs prior notification, assessment of compatibility with competition, clearance decisions, suspension of implementation, monitoring and penalties for concentrations that meet specified turnover thresholds. It establishes a one-stop-shop review mechanism under which the European Commission has exclusive jurisdiction, precluding Member States from applying their own national competition law, in order to maintain effective competition in the internal market.
